Merced County

Merced County was organized in 1855 and named after the Merced River. Its population is 281,202, and its land area spans 1,935 square miles. The county's administrative center is Merced City.

The judicial system of Merced County consists only of a Superior Court. This court has locations in Los Banos and Merced Cities. It also has several divisions which handle cases based on their type. For example, the Criminal Division handles felonies, misdemeanors, and other cases involving allegations of offenses against the state. The Civil, Small Claims, Family, Probate, and Traffic Divisions all handle civil cases of varying complexity. The Juvenile Division hears cases related to minors.

Viewing public court records via the online portal is free, although requesters may incur a fee to download copies. Per Government Code Section 70627(a), making copies of documents will attract a fee of $0.5 per page if the document is uncertified. If a certified copy is requested, a $25 fee will be charged per certification.
