Conway County

Created on October 20, 1825 and named after Henry Wharton Conway, Conway County is the 11th county in Arkansas. It has a population of 21,046 according to the 2020 census. The county has four incorporated municipalities, which includes Morrilton, its county seat. Conway County is one of the 75 counties making up the 15th Judicial Circuit of Arkansas.

A Circuit Court and a few District Courts make up the legal system of Conway County. The 15th Judicial Circuit Court specializes in civil cases involving claims over $100 and criminal cases involving felonies and misdemeanors beyond the limited jurisdiction of other courts. It shares jurisdiction with District Courts over civil claims up to $25,000 (State District Court) and $5,000 (Local District Court). In addition, it handles probate, domestic violence, mental health, juvenile, and Breach of Contract cases.

Conway County District Courts were formerly known as municipal courts before the passage of the Amendment 80 in 2001 in the Arkansas Constitution. District Courts issue warrants, handle small and civil claims, traffic cases, local ordinance violations, and hold preliminary hearings on felony cases. In addition, the Conway District Courts have limited and county-wide jurisdiction overseeing cases for the city of Conway and Faulkner County.

Conway County ensures a fair, transparent, and timely process of obtaining court records. The Clerk of Circuit Court is the authority responsible for filing court records appropriately. The Office of the Circuit Court Clerk maintains and keeps complete court records and provides access to these records when requested. Therefore, the public can obtain, inspect, or copy court records on civil, traffic, family law, small claims, criminal, juvenile, and probate cases in Conway County.
