Blount County

Blount County began on February 6, in 1818. It was founded by order of the Alabama territorial legislature. Its county seat is Oneonta. The Warrior coal field is found in Blount County. The county received its name because of Willie Blount, the TN governor. It's located in the mineral region of Alabama and is surrounded by Etowah, Marshall, Jefferson, Cullman, St. Clair, and Walker Counties.

The Circuit, District, Probate, and Municipal Courts are courts of various jurisdictions in the county. The Circuit Court shares jurisdiction with the District Court over cases involving amounts over $3,000. It handles felonies and appeals from lower courts. The District Court handles misdemeanors, small claims, juvenile, and traffic violation cases. The Probate Court executes the wills of deceased persons and appoints and oversees guardians for minors. It also handles mental health cases. The Municipal Courts handle traffic violations, city ordinance violations, and misdemeanors, and hold preliminary hearings.

The Circuit Court Clerk, by statute, keeps track of court records for the county. Court records refer to the cases filed in court and decisions made about such cases. Records are kept in digital and paper formats for record-keeping purposes.

The public is at liberty to view the following public court records at the convenience of their homes:
