The Guadalupe County Courts at Law hold hearings for condemnation, family and juvenile matters, guardianship, contested probate cases, civil lawsuits up to $200,000, Class A and B misdemeanor offenses, mental health proceedings, non-disclosures, occupational licenses, and appeals from the Justice of the Peace Courts.
The Justice of the Peace Courts in Guadalupe County have jurisdiction over writs of entry, eviction suits, Class C misdemeanors, and small claims cases in which the amount in dispute is not more than $20,000. These courts can also conduct marriage ceremonies and issue search, arrest, and seizure warrants.
Although other courts may share jurisdiction with the Probate Court over certain probate matters, this court has exclusive jurisdiction over the administration of estates, guardianship, probate of wills, and mental health proceedings.
