Greene County
Located in the southwestern part of Ohio, Greene County has a total land area of 414 square miles. It was created in 1803 and named after General Nathanael Greene, an officer of the US Revolutionary War. As of the 2020 census, 167,966 people live in Greene County. Xenia is its county seat, while Beavercreek is its largest city.
The court system in Greene County comprises the following:
- Greene County municipal courts handle preliminary hearings for felonies, township resolution infractions, some misdemeanors, and civil disputes involving less than $15,000. Fairborn and Xenia Municipal Courts are the two municipal courts in the county
- Yellow Springs Mayor's Court is the only mayor's court in Greene County. It hears municipal ordinance violations, misdemeanors, animal-related cases, and traffic offenses
- Greene County Court of Common Pleas General Division - hears criminal cases, civil suits, and administrative appeals from government agencies
- Greene County Domestic Relations Court - handles cases concerning family law, such as divorce, annulment, child support, child custody, and issuing protective orders
- Greene County Juvenile Court - handles all juvenile-related matters, including juvenile delinquency, child protection, emancipation, and admission of a minor into a mental institution
- Greene County Probate Court - deals with all probate matters
