As a probate court, the Calvert Orphan's Court specializes in the administration of estates, the appointment of guardians for minors and incapacitated persons, resolving disputes arising from the validity of a will, and ensuring that estate assets are preserved and correctly distributed.

Calvert County court records contain information, documents, and exhibits submitted in connection to a case. These records are generally open to the public, excluding records that are shielded, expunged, or sealed by court rules or state law. Furthermore, Calvert County court records are maintained in the courthouse where the case was heard and can be provided upon request.

The Maryland Judiciary Case Search website allows the public to access general information about a case, such as case number, party involved, type of case, and date, without visiting the courthouse. However, access to court documents is only available at the office of the relevant court clerk.
