Pueblo County
Pueblo County covers a land area of 2,386.6 square miles and is located in the southeastern part of the State of Colorado. The county seat is Pueblo and was founded in November 1861. The county is named for the City of Pueblo, which derived its name from the Spanish word for village or town. Pueblo County is home to over 168,000 people.
The county's court system comprises a municipal court, county court, water court, and a district court. The municipal courts share jurisdiction with the county court and district court in cases involving civil protection orders, but it typically handles violations of town and city ordinances. The water court has specialized jurisdiction over some civil case types related to water rights, including the administration and use of water.
County courts have limited jurisdiction over some civil and criminal matters. Criminal cases handled by the county court in Pueblo include petty offenses, misdemeanors, and preliminary hearings for all criminal case types.
Civil cases heard in this court include most civil cases in which the amount in controversy is not more than $15,000. The court also has a small claims division for most general civil cases in which the amount in dispute is less than $7,500.
The district court handles cases beyond the county court's and municipal court's jurisdiction. They also handle probate matters, juvenile matters, domestic relations, child custody, child support, adoptions, mental health cases, and paternity matters.

If you are visiting in person or making a request in person, you must complete and submit a record research request form.
There is a $5 search fee per case and a $20 certification fee per document. Exemplification costs $20 per case while extensive research for case information is charged at $20 per hour. The court also charges $0.75 copy fee per page. A photo identification may be required to complete a court record search.
