San Francisco County is a hub for business, culture, and finance in California. It was founded on December 16, 1848, and named after Francis of Assisi. As of 2020, the county had over 873,965 people living within its 46.9 square miles of land area. Its seat is in San Francisco City.
San Francisco County is served by Superior Courts, which are divided into several divisions for administrative convenience. To obtain printed copies of court records in the county, requesters must pay a $0.50 fee for each page. Where the record is searched with the help of a Superior Court Clerk, the requester incurs an additional $15 charge for each name search lasting up to 10 minutes. If the desired record is to be certified, then an additional $40 certification fee applies.
